Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital

North Valley Hospital offers both a Geriatric and an Adult Psychiatric program. Each involves working closely with the patient's family, physicians, case manager, insurer and other healthcare providers to deliver the most effective inpatient interventions possible.

Geriatric Psychiatry Program
Specializing in the treatment of adults over age 55, this program addresses the needs of individuals who require acute care for certain dementias and psychiatric disorders. Treatment may include psychiatric, neurological and biomedical evaluations. An emphasis on the goal of functioning independently—with the ability to perform the activities required for daily living—is addressed.

  • Dementias (with dangerous/psychotic behaviors)

  • Medical and cognitive impairments
  • Medication management

Adult Psychiatry Program
This program provides an inpatient setting for individuals in need of mental health stabilization, dual diagnostic treatment or substance abuse detox and treatment. A multi-disciplinary team evaluates and implements individualized treatment plans for each patient. Treatments for physical, cognitive and medical impairments are also performed. Common diagnoses include:
